The values
Richard Canfield (Canfield Associates) published Expert in Blackjack Your Way to Riches as the simpler of two related counts. Expert is level one. Master is the level-two sibling with a different map.
Aces are 0 in Expert, so published practice can include an ace side count. That does not make this Master — Master is +2/−2 on tens and small cards.

+1
3, 4, 5, 6, 7
Low cards. Twos are not in this column.
0
A, 2, 8
Aces, twos, and eights. Side-count aces if you want more betting power.
−1
9, 10, J, Q, K
Nines and tens.
Extra tracking
Aces are 0 in Expert, same as other ace-neutral maps. A side count is optional: it is not required to run the primary count, but it restores betting power.
Tally aces as they leave the shoe. Remaining aces versus remaining decks tells you when to raise the bet. The primary true count still drives playing deviations.
The math
Balanced. Start at 0. Expert returns to 0 over a full deck.
True count is running count divided by remaining decks.
Efficiency
Expert’s PE is strong for a level-one ace-neutral map. BC is lower than Hi-Lo until you side-count aces.
BC
87%
Betting correlation of 87%.
PE
63%
Playing efficiency of 63%.
IC
76%
Insurance correlation of 76%.
